Born 30 Years Too Early

Image by Kenn WilsonI have often believed that I was born about 30 years too early. The toys I wanted as a kid have only been produced in the last 10 years. The films I wanted to watch as a teenager have only been made in the last 10 years. I wish I could say that the technological tools that are available today are the tools I would want today whilst setting off on my career. But I can't. I have seen how some of the most successful and best respected organisations have recruited what they call, quite rightly, "the best people" they can find. These companies then hand these best people tools that are more often than not badly designed and very limiting. Often I get infuriated whist using technology as it doesn't do what it's designed to do. Or, it is so badly designed that it hasn't been designed to do what you want it to do.
Image by bucklavaThis is now the THIRD time I have typed this post because even using Wordpress (which I rate highly) has failed me. I am now in the process of moving this site/blog over to Squarespace and even there I have found its limitations very frustrating. It is difficult for these technologies to truly succeed when they suffer from issues of stability and design. Until then I guess we have to muddle on and try our best with what we have. It's not a case of computers getting better and better. We humans are still the best design and computers have a long way to come, amazing as they are.
