Buzz 02

In this email from Bright Beehive (Cormac Heron & Nick O'Doherty) we outline what we have been working on, what's captured our attention professionally, and what we are doing outside of business.
Bright Beehive

Hi there,

We had a great response to our first Buzz with people following up links and commenting.  It was also good to get back in touch with some people we haven't seen or spoken to in a while.

We are still working on the format of this update, introducing new sections and dropping ones that had less response.  Let us know if there are topics you'd like to see more frequently, or items you'd prefer not to see at all.

This time we have our first "Introducing.." section, sharing with you details of a colleague we have worked with before.  We also have a Beginner's Corner where we are looking to provide useful advice to those who are new to  social media. In this instance we are investigating Google Plus, which we have 300 invites to give away!
If you'd prefer not to receive emails like this please hit the unsubscribe link at the bottom, or email one of us directly. On the other hand, if you think that someone else you know would like to read this, please feel free to forward this to them.

Thanks,

Social Media Strategy

What's Been Keeping Us Busy?

Social Media Strategy
We have 4 approaches to developing a strategy: 2 are top-down and 2 are bottom-up. They start with:
1. Business objectives.
2. "Conversations".
3. Pain points
4. Broad direction. Then just do it and review it. Read more here.

Wednesday Caption

Send us your captions and your images
Each Wednesday we are posting a new image on our blog. We'd like your witty captions to accompany the image. Also send us images that are "captionable". We will be awarding quarterly prizes for the best picture contribution and best caption contributions. Enter your funnies here.
Google Maps Is Wrong

Cormac's Update

Google Maps Is Wrong!
I have only recently discovered that Google's 0 degrees longititude is out. By some margin. Approximately 0.0015 degrees, or about 100 metres in ordinary speak. People died establishing this line and I'm on a mission to Google them to fix their mess. Read more here.
Cormac & Lin's Conversation

Beginner's Corner

Google+
Here is Cormac's view on Google Plus. Is it the tool that will knock Facebook off its perch? Is it killing Twitter? We think it's too early to call but it is a great tool. We have 300 invites to give away! Just email Bright Beehive Bee and tell us what you think of our Buzz newsletter and then can sort you out.
Strawberry Jam

Nick's Update

Wine and Jam
It's that time of year when the pretty flowers are fading and the fruit is ripening.  I love getting fruit from the garden and making desserts, jams and wine. Wine making is still something of a hit or miss operation, but practice makes perfect. What's your favourite homemade wine recipe?

Highly 'Recommended'!

Topical News

#UKRiots
The riots and the role social media played in organising them featured in the news recently. The focus moved on to the role social media played in cleaning up and in identifying the looters.  As usual much was said that was ill informed, except by Cormac who reviewed the issues succinctly.
